Good evening!

The Market is open and ready for orders. If you participated in the Market this week, thank you for being so patient and understanding about our postponement. We also appreciate you all for continuing to shop on the Market even without a lot of produce. We really do have the best customers!

Upcoming Events

Plan to join us Saturday February 17, 9 am to noon for a hands on planning workshop to maximize your vegetable production for all skill levels at the Grayson LandCare/IFM office at 108 Courthouse Street. We’ll talk about planting dates, spacing, interplanting and succession plantings as well as organic pest and disease control. Using information from the best national and local gardeners you’ll learn to apply these techniques to a single raised bed or a full sized market garden. Hope to see you then! The cost is $10 and includes light snacks and the class is limited to 30 people. Please email Michelle Pridgen at independencefarmersmarket@gmail.com to register.

Have you thought about becoming a vendor at the Farmers Market? Here’s your chance to join returning vendors and find out about the coming season and enjoy a potluck lunch on Friday, April 6th from 10am-2pm at the Grayson Landcare office. Check out our Facebook event page for more information.

Thank you for supporting the Independence Farmers Market!

ALFN Local Food Club:  Celebrate with us at Lost 40!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Just a few months ago we set a goal to raise $5,000 for the startup costs of transitioning our online market to a new software platform. Thanks to the great generosity of our members and a private matching donation, we are so excited to announce that we have officially met our goal!

We hope that you can join us tonight at Lost 40 to celebrate this success and enjoy time with the great community of local food supporters who make our mission possible. Please note that the start time of the event has changed to 5:30-7:00pm. This is a casual event with food and a cash bar to get great local beer!

We will continue to have opportunities for you to give to the ongoing success of our organization as we venture into this new project. If you missed the window to donate to the GoFundMe campaign there will be ways for you to donate at tonight’s event in support of our organization as we shift gears and grow into this new opportunity. No donation is required to attend and have fun.

Thank you all so much! Hope to see you tonight.

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown:  Market Postponed - Here We Go Again

Manchester Locally Grown market

We always have a few new farmers, waiting their turn to join our market and offer their wonderful products to all our customers. In order to add more farmers, we feel it would be best to grow our customer base a bit. We want to be able to offer you and your friends some new local farm products.

The farmers and market managers would really appreciate your efforts to help spread the word about our fantastic market. What a great local resource for fresh, local farm products. Please pick up a few business cards to hand out to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Advertising is very expensive, and we want to use our slim market funds in a responsible manner.

Good afternoon!

Here we go again! Due to the extreme cold weather this whole week, your market managers have made an executive decision to close market this week. We are so very sorry to have to postpone market twice this month, but we really feel safety must come first, both for farmers and customers on the roads and for the managers at market. Temperatures hovering around the freezing mark will not make good conditions for the pickup location, and we are concerned for the safety of both farmers and customers trying to make it into town.

I have already closed this week’s market. Ordering will reopen on Sunday morning before 8 am, and close next Tuesday, January 23, at 10 pm, as usual. Look for a market announcement next Sunday, January 21, as usual.

Meanwhile, I’d like to hear from every customer to be sure you will be able to pick up your current order on Thursday, January 25. If you have any problem with that pickup date, please let me know, and we’ll make alternate arrangements. Please feel free to message me if you need to remove anything from your current order. And of course the software will do all the work of combining, should you want to add to the order placed this week.

Thank you so much for understanding. Please stay warm and safe till next pickup day!

Blessings,
Michael & Linda
