Suwanee Whole Life Co-op: Chuck, our volunteer is in the hospital
Hi Everyone, just wanted to let you know what’s going on with with one of our members/volunteer/friend Chuck since many of you know and have met him at pick up in Buford over the years. I spoke with him today and he said it was okay for me to share and ask for prayers.
Chuck started having some problems Friday night and Saturday he drove himself to the hospital. They confirmed that he was having a heart attack. He had a heart catheterization yesterday and they put in a stent where he had almost a hundred percent blockage in one artery. He attributes his change in eating habits over the past 3 years to why both are not blocked. He is feeling much better today and the doctor says he’s doing great. I know his positive outlook and faith in God are helping him get through this. He’s in good spirits and want you all to know that he’s gonna miss seeing everyone this week at our first pick up in Suwanee on Wednesday.
Please keep Chuck lifted in your prayers and thoughts for continued healing and speedy recovery!
Blessings,
Nora

Foothills Market: The Market is Open - January 15
Looks like we’re in for another really cold week of winter. But Foothills Market has limited amounts of some fresh vegetables despite the freezing weather. Happy Horseshoe Farm is offering Brussels sprouts as well as the first harvest from the new aquaponics growhouse – celery stalks.
We also have a good selection of locally-grown meats, as well as several sweets. Treat yourself to some candy, spread some jelly on a slice of toast, or munch on a fresh blueberry muffin to take your mind off the cold!
The market will be open for orders until Thursday at noon. Browse our offerings, fill your cart, then press the “Place Your Order” button. We’ll have your order ready for pickup between 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Food for Thought Garden house at 815 N. Hillcrest in Clarksville.
Stay warm, and eat something fresh this week!

GFM : SPOTLIGHT VENDOR OF THE WEEK
SPOTLIGHT VENDOR
“RURAL RESOURCES”
Rural Resources Farm is on a former tobacco farm where we now practice sustainable methods to ensure this land for future generations of farmers. We practice organic farming methods, and only use antibiotics as needed and prescribed by the vet. We are a local non-profit connecting farms, food, and families through educational experiences. One of those educational experiences is our Farm and Food Teen Training Program that works with at-risk low income youth from around the county that have food security issues to help improve their food choices and availability. We do this through an intensive 4 year program where teens progress through different levels of food production. In year 1 the teens learn garden and livestock managements with the opportunity of having a home garden. The second year, the teens work with local chefs to learn how to cook fresh food in a healthy manner and use different kitchen equipment from standard home equipment to commercial. During the year, teens also cater meals in the community to reinforce skills they have learned and pick up some job skills. The 3rd and 4th year our teens learn about business development, planning, and implementation. Through this program, pigs have become the teens main livestock learning opportunity.
