What could be better on a dreary afternoon like this one than coming over to the Sewanee Community Center for a Coffee Break from 2:00 to 3:00.
Lots of yummy and gorgeous items available to look at, order, and purchase for your holiday gift-giving!! Come join us for tea and coffee!
Cape Locally Grown: Thankful after Thanksgiving!
Greetings!!
How was your Thanksgiving? We hope you had a great time enjoying the fruits of this year’s harvest with family and friends. We always make it a tradition to save the bounty of our gardens for Thanksgiving and remember the joys and tough times of the year through partaking of a feast together.
Speaking of food…it’s that time again to partake of the availability of your local food supply! We have more products available this week, as our growers and their products are growing!
We welcome this week, Cream of the Crust, a small Cape micro-creamery making gourmet ice creams utilizing local fruits for all to enjoy. It’s a great idea to support local food processors like Charlie and Lisa at Cream of the Crust.
Take the chill off this winter and get cozy with the warmest alpaca wool products from Jan and Jim at Three Sisters!
Also, check out the organic sweet potatoes from Manoor Manor (they will be going fast!). Katey and David are doing a great job on their picturesque farm in the Ozark foothills!
Don’t forget the delicious and nutritious grass-fed beef from Double B Ranch, and the organically grown salad greens and sourdough breads from Green’s Garden.
Pick-up will be Saturday in downtown Cape for Cape folks and for folks west of Cape, we offer another Saturday pick-up location at Patton Junction.
As always, we appreciate your support as we work to build your local food supply, increasing opportunity for farmers, and strengthening the connection to your food!

Market Calendars Now Available!
Here’s your chance to capture the past year in pictures as Growers, Volunteers— and even Customers— come together to make this wonderful adventure a Memorable Endeavor. We are using this as a fundraiser for our Market to buy some supplies that we’ve been putting off. If we run out, I will order more and get them to you by the New Year. NOTE: Active Volunteers are going to get this calendar at cost. Just ask Market Manager!

OUR MARKET SCHEDULE UNTIL END OF YEAR
If you cannot view this link at the SPLG Market Calendar 2014 then here is the scoop! We are open weeks of 12/1 and 12/15 then closed for TWO weeks including week of Christmas and New Years.
MARKET VARIETY IS EXPLODING
Salmon is back! Lamb is coming end of December. Medjool dates are back. First time ever: brussel sprouts! Garlic and ginger are being offered for first time ever-for customer convenience. The diverse selection of kales and eggplant will astound you. Papayas are abundant.
FRUIT THIS WEEK
We have the largest fugis I have ever seen and I’ve already eaten 1 BIG one. Super juicy! Among other things, we are featuring black sapote, sunburst tangerines, red d’anjou pears, and more braeburns. The quality of our produce is something I am really proud of and our fruit is no exception. Please review the variety as I cannot list it all.
HOLIDAY PARTY ON DEC. 6TH
Hope to see you this Saturday at 7PM. Please DON’T arrive at 530PM (like our normally scheduled potluck socials). Bring a heavy hors d’oeuvre to share? There will be lots of friendship, frivolity, fire, and food!
WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST CUSTOMERS!
Once you have submitted your order, if in doubt about what you owe, you can always confirm what you have been charged for by checking your account history and viewing your most current invoice. Instructions on how to do that are on our Q&A page under the question entitled Since you don’t provide an invoice with delivery, how do I know what I owe? Also, since your vegetables are picked fresh within 24 hours of delivery, they should be lasting for WEEKS in your refrigerator. When you accept delivery, please take a few minutes to inspect your order to protect your vegetables from unnecessary spoilage. Lastly, it is imperative that you understand our policy on Unclaimed Orders found on our Q&A page. When you make a purchase you are agreeing to abide by this policy.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEED
Our Market has high standards for what it sells. Despite that—as seasons transition—the challenges of evolving weather and pesky insects can take its toll on the crops. Market Growers are being very selective about what they are willing to present to you. No, it won’t always be picture perfect (which is part of its charm) and sometimes an insect is going to evade capture! But we won’t send you anything that we wouldn’t eat ourselves. If for any reason we have goofed and you are dissatisfied, please report it to me right away so we can rectify the situation. That’s how we get better and we all benefit from that. Your satisfaction is key to our success as a resource for St. Petersburgs’ lovers of chemical-free, organically & locally grown vegetables.
Upcoming Events
All these and more are posted on our Calendar of Events

Old99Farm Market: OLd 99 Farm Week of Nov 30 2014
This is the week to shout CARROTS CARROTS! Ours are still in the ground, cool and crispy, getting sweeter with the frosty weather. Very tasty for eating fresh but quite fine for cooking too. Prices reduced on orders over 3kg by 20%.
Leeks are ready to be harvested, also still in the ground for flavour development. And in the cold cellar, root crops, squashes and garlic.
As of Nov 30th, we can offer 60+ items including the following crops: mint, beet tops, spinach, beet root (two varieties, Detroit Red and regular), chard, celeriac, carrots, collards, squashes (hubbard, butternut, Sibley, buttercup, spaghetti and delicata) and kale.
Camelia is cooking prepared foods from our produce: garlic pesto, cucumber relish, quiches (on order). Arugula pesto is her latest and it’s a delight, but you can make your own too!
Meats
Beef cuts are now available, a total of about 300 lbs of pastured meats. There are several geese in the freezer. I have 5 lambs in the freezer, still have about 10 chickens as well as veal.
I have listed pork now so that you can order specific cuts and I’ll know how to instruct the butcher: pork coming in December.
Eggs
My current price is $6/XL doz. I sell mixed size dozens that weigh at least 588 gm (medium), 672 grams, the ‘large’ size dozen, and Extra Large, 770gm plus carton. Please bring in recycled cartons.
