Market News

Good morning!

We have a new vendor on the market, Hope for Health joins us offering baked goods and candies. We asked her to tell us about her business practices. She wants everyone to know: I am all about packing in as much nutrition into everything I make (with the exception of my candy). I only use the best ingredients whenever possible, including organic, natural, etc., in all of my baked goods. I grind my own flours, use fresh farm eggs, fresh unprocessed honey, organic coconut oil, and organic spices. Even my candy, which I see as an occasional treat, only has pure cane sugar, real butter, etc. Thanks!

She has added many goodies along with customized Valentine treats for your loved ones and delicious pumpkin muffins (we have first-hand experience with them). Check those out!

Chef Jenny with Seeds of Success has added some gorgeous GLUTEN FREE Heart Healthy Brownies. Instead of flour, these brownies are made with heart healthy, protein rich black beans. The chocolatey richness comes from cocoa, dark chocolate chips, pure cane sugar, and farm fresh eggs. You won’t even know it’s missing flour. Consider it a guilt-free Valentine’s Day treat, for yourself, or a loved one.

Wedge Oak Farm has ground turkey, 1 lb chub of our pasture raised turkey ground with our Mangalitsa fat. They have also added artisan Tacchino. “Tacchino” is Italian for “Turkey”. Our Tacchino is a light and mild italian turkey sausage made in small batches.

Botanical Harmony Farm added all-natural, goat milk soaps in many plant-based scents.

Nuance Coffee & Tea lists new Matcha tea blends.

Our vendors sometimes bring extras to sell during pickup. Last week Hope for Health and Double Star Bar Farm brought muffins and sourdough breads. These were a huge hit and we hope to have more this week. They will be at the table next to checkout.

ALSO Stones River Market has gift certificates listed! What an incredible gift to share with someone…. as a housewarming, a new friend, Valentine’s Day, Mother or fathers day or just to something wonderful to share with someone who doesn’t quite understand “buying and supporting local” or whole foods eating.

Again, we thank you for the support of this market and the growers/makers who rely on you for their livelihood. What an incredible community this market truly is!
See you Wednesday,

Lake Placid Online Farmer's Market:  February Market Open!

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the lateness in opening the market this month—we have been very busy with the Empire State Games here in town, and I was competing so didn’t get a chance to open the ordering until now!

Rehoboth has some butternut squash and eggs available in addition to other offerings. Butternut squash is a common ingredient in pumpkin pie filling. Beth says she makes butternut pie without the crust, using a common pumpkin pie recipe. Great for those avoiding gluten and extra carbs. I personally have made “pumpkin pie” with butternut squash, and it’s even better than plain pumpkin pie in my opinion.

As always Asgaard has some great cheeses and yogurts available including Brie, Farmer’s Cheese, and Feta.

We are happy to welcome North Country Creamery, who has added several varieties of beef sausage to the market.

We will be closing the market on Tuesday morning at 10 am, so please get all orders in by then. Thank you as always for your business, and please email with any questions!

Best,
Christie
